Education and Foundations

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Maryville College with a concentration in oil painting and have developed a strong foundation in traditional materials, color theory, and formal composition. My academic training grounded me in deliberate studio practice, but much of my artistic voice has been shaped through live painting and direct engagement with the public.
Process and Practice

Early in my career, I worked as an instructor with Painting with a Twist, where I learned how to paint efficiently within strict time constraints. That experience pushed me to find ways to do more with less and fundamentally changed how I think about painting. It sharpened my focus on efficiency, clarity, and decision-making as disciplines that can be strengthened. I became deeply interested in how a painting can remain visually rich while being constructed through an intentional, repeatable process. My work today reflects that philosophy. I spend significant time exploring how colors behave across mediums, how they shift when layered, and how small changes in temperature or saturation can carry emotional and structural weight. Rather than chasing personal symbolism, I prioritize social critique and conversation as sources for new ideas. Interacting with the community as a vendor at art festivals and fairs has proven to be a well of inspiration. My work is driven less by internal narrative and more by an ongoing dialogue with the world.

Teaching and Community Engagement

Teaching and hosting painting sessions are an extension of my studio practice. I currently lead regular painting sessions in Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood every Friday, as well as at The Crazy Book Lady bookstore in Acworth every second, third, and fourth Sunday. I have built a separate portfolio designed to make the act of painting more accessible and less demanding. Inspired by the classic paint-by-numbers method, as well as my time working with Painting with a Twist, my goal is to bring people together by introducing a low-effort, customized painting experience.
